This is the final call for pharmacy teams to participate in our Pharmacy Advice Audit and give the findings the validity they deserve
The deadline to complete the audit is 23.59 on Friday 28th June, and we need your help to gather as much data as possible for use in our ongoing call for increased funding for the sector – and capture healthcare advisory work not being covered by Pharmacy First.
“Our one-day audit will show the next Government how much Pharmacy First is driving extra workload,” our CEO Janet Morrison said in her June blog published last week. She has spoken more about the importance of the audit in a video message to pharmacy owners:
The data you collect over just one day can:
Provide critical evidence about the informal advice you provide and the impact Pharmacy First is having;
Help us drive lobbying efforts and support our ongoing call for more funding; and
Show policymakers and others your work to build more advocates for the sector.
The Advice Audit provides invaluable information and statistics for Community Pharmacy England to use to support our arguments in the ongoing call for more funding. Policymakers have been receptive to large datasets in the past with previous audit results critical in helping to persuade MPs to support our case for a funded walk-in pharmacy advice service, which became Pharmacy First.
Our audit has been designed to be as simple as possible to complete – see the steps below. If you have already completed the audit, thank you for your support and please remember to submit your data via PharmOutcomes by the deadline.
How to take part
Over the course of just one day, pharmacies are asked to follow four simple steps:
Record patient/customer interactions where:
advice was given by either a non-pharmacist team member and/or a pharmacist AND
the consultation is not covered by the Pharmacy First service.
Carry this out across a full working day, recording all consultations.
Estimate the percentage of consultations that were recorded (this is to recognise that some consultations may be missed).
When all consultations have been completed, enter the data on PharmOutcomes.
