Independent pharmacy owners are being invited to express interest in joining our committee. One additional place has been created for the category of pharmacy owners operating between one and nine pharmacy premises. The changes are part of ongoing work to adjust the composition and size of our committee, to better reflect the make-up of the community pharmacy sector.

Under the new interim arrangements, which will come into effect from 1st November 2025, the IPA will nominate two 10-plus multiple representatives to Community Pharmacy England. This is in addition to the existing three members of the Committee in the non-CCA multiples category.  An additional independent representative will be co-opted to the Committee, and the CCA representatives will be reduced by one. The arrangements will be in place until Community Pharmacy England elections in April 2027.

As the national negotiator for community pharmacy, Community Pharmacy England recognises the importance of having the input of skills and knowledge from the full range of pharmacy owners to better understand and work within the best interests of the sector as a whole.

Applications

Expressions of interest are welcomed from pharmacists who own between one and nine pharmacy premises (either individually or in partnership), or a director and a substantial shareholder (either personally, or through shares owned by members of their immediate family, i.e. parents, spouse or children) in a body corporate which is an Independent Pharmacy Owner. They must also be a member or officer of a Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) in England.

Applicants will also need to demonstrate they can meet the role, responsibilities and person specification of being a committee member and agree to adhere to our Code of ConductGovernance Framework and confidentiality protocols. Potential candidates will have to meet our ‘fit and proper’ persons test.

Please complete the form below by Sunday 19th October 2025 to apply. As part of the process, you will be required to provide a supporting statement of up to 500 words.

Community Pharmacy England Director of LPC and Pharmacy Owner Support, James Wood said:

“Our committee is responsible for providing effective leadership to and oversight of Community Pharmacy England’s activity to generate value for the sector and promote the long-term success of community pharmacy in England.

Our success depends on the contributions of vibrant, engaged, committed leaders from all parts of the sector and I encourage eligible pharmacy owners, who are also local leaders via their LPC, to use this opportunity. Joining is a significant time commitment, but anyone who does take this on would be rewarded with a real opportunity to share your valuable contributions and feed directly into our deliberations and decision-making.”
