The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that the NHS prescription charge will remain at £9.90 per prescription item for 2026/27.

Government press release today confirms that the NHS prescription charge will be frozen, as well as the costs for prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs).

The list of 2026/27 prescription-related charges are outlined below.

Community Pharmacy England will issue 2026/27 prescription charge cards and PPC posters in due course. For 2025/26 pharmacy teams can continue using the existing posters below:
