Mike Dent (Director of Pharmacy Funding) and Suraj Shah (Drug Tariff and Reimbursement Manager) will be hosting a PSNC webinar about price concessions on Wednesday 7th September at 7.30pm.
PSNC recognises that medicines pricing and supply issues are putting significantly increased pressure on community pharmacy contractors and their teams, and we are continuing to escalate our concerns with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) and raise awareness in the national media. We are also taking steps to support contractors at this time, including publishing guidance for contractors (with practical tips for dealing with medicine pricing and supply issues), and updating our Price Concessions Briefing to explain how the process operates each month. Our latest support comes in the form of a webinar that aims to explain more about how concessionary prices are reached.
PSNC’s webinar will help to address the following questions:
How are price concessions negotiated?
What is the impact of price concessions on overall funding?
What are the current challenges in setting price concessions?
How is PSNC working to improve the price concession system?
During the webinar viewers will be guided through the price concession process; from applying for a price concession to how prices are finalised and then communicated to pharmacy contractors and their teams. Mike and Suraj will also explain how price concessions are measured in the Margin Survey and the impact this has on the overall funding envelope. At the end there will be an opportunity for viewers to ask questions.
So if you want to better understand how the price concession system operates and PSNC’s work in this area, attending this webinar will provide some useful insights.

It is still worth registering for the event so that you will be sent a link to the recorded version of the webinar as soon as it is available.
