The NHS prescription charge is reviewed annually with changes usually made in April, however, this year the Government has yet to conclude consideration of any future increases to prescription charges.
Following our announcement that the NHS prescription charge would not be uplifted on 1 April 2022, a decision is yet to be reached on any potential future uplift to the NHS prescription charges for 2022/23. Therefore, NHS prescription charges will remain at £9.35 per item while further consideration is given.
PSNC will update community pharmacy teams as soon as any changes are agreed, including details of when they will be implemented.
In summary:
The cost of Prescription Pre-payment Certificates (PPCs) will also remain unchanged until further notice.
