Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) Chairs from across the country came together this week to share experiences, strengthen leadership skills and discuss the support that LPCs provide to their LPC team and local pharmacy owners during this time of mounting pressure upon the sector.

The Forum of LPC Chairs, provided an important opportunity for new and returning Chairs (or Vice Chairs) to attend the Community Pharmacy England office. The Members and LPC Support team hosted the day, together with Professor Dame Jenny Harries DBE DL, Chair of the Forum and of Community Pharmacy England, who gave an introduction and shared her knowledge and insights through the day.

Established in 2024, the Forum brings together all Chairs of LPCs in England to steer Community Pharmacy England on local matters, foster collaboration on areas of mutual interest and share best practice.

The meeting began with an introduction from Professor Dame Jenny Harries and updates from James Wood, Director of Member and LPC Support, outlining the mounting pressures on the sector and the negotiation priorities for the 2026/27 Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.

The rest of the day focussed on in-depth discussions on the current priorities for LPCs, sharing experience, insights and creating a peer support network. First and foremost, attendees explored the increasing pressures facing many pharmacy owners and discussed practical ways for LPCs to provide appropriate support.

Community Pharmacy England thanks all LPC Chairs and Vice Chairs, for their ongoing leadership and contribution to representing and supporting local pharmacy owners, noting that the insights gathered from the meeting will help inform the organisation’s ongoing planning and support for LPCs.

James Wood, Director of Member and LPC Support at Community Pharmacy England said:

“The Forum continues to be an essential space for LPC Chairs to come together, share honest reflections and strengthen local leadership across the country. This meeting’s discussions highlighted both the challenges pharmacy owners are facing and the real impact that strong, well supported LPCs can have locally. Thank you to everyone who contributed so openly and helping feed directly into national planning and support for the year ahead.”
