Alongside critical work making the financial case for the sector, Community Pharmacy England will be working with Pharmacist Support in 2026 to help support the wellbeing of pharmacists and their teams.

The continuing fragility of pharmacy finances, alongside high workloads, stress, ongoing uncertainty and rising reports of patient abuse across England, take a real toll on the wellbeing and morale of pharmacy owners and teams.

Through joint work with Pharmacist Support, the profession’s independent charity, we will deliver wellbeing workshops and share informative resources to help pharmacy owners and their teams manage stress, protect mental health and stay resilient through another demanding year. (Read our latest blog on the pressures facing pharmacy in 2026 and how we’re supporting the frontline, including through Pharmacist Support).

The collaboration began with Pharmacist Support exhibiting at the Annual Conference of LPC Representatives towards the end of last year, and continues with registration opening for a stress management webinar next month.

Through this collaboration with Pharmacist Support, we also want to signpost pharmacy owners and teams to the charity’s services, ensuring people know where to turn for help when they need it. Pharmacist Support offers support to pharmacists, pharmacy students, trainees and former pharmacists. Pharmacy owners may wish to be aware of the services available and share this information with their teams where helpful.

The charity offers a number of support services, helping people across our profession who are facing many personal challenges. The charity will be using this expertise to work with us to provide an offering of wellbeing workshops and to promote the assistance that Pharmacist Support offers, through different means of communications.

Janet Morrison, CEO of Community Pharmacy England, said:

“At Community Pharmacy England, the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacy owners is a priority close to our hearts. Our annual Pharmacy Pressures Survey and regular polling highlight the scale of the challenges pharmacy owners face across the sector. Staffing pressures remain chronic and morale is at breaking point. Wellbeing consistently ranks as one of the biggest concerns at work, alongside operational and financial pressures.

“Many pharmacy owners work under extreme pressure. Across the sector, they are exhausted, feel undervalued, and uncertain about the future of their pharmacies. Issues such as patient abuse, medicine supply shortages, and financial pressures take both a professional and personal toll.

“That is why we are working with Pharmacist Support in 2026. Together, we will provide workshops, webinars, and other resources to support the mental health and wellbeing of pharmacists across the sector.”

Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive of Pharmacist Support, added:

“We’re delighted to be working with Community Pharmacy England. This collaboration will allow us to extend our reach and support more pharmacy owners and teams at a time when many are under significant pressure. Working together in this way helps ensure that wellbeing remains firmly on the agenda across the profession.”
