Pharmacy press
As today marks World Pharmacists Day, an annual awareness day led by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), we’re celebrating the vital role pharmacists play in improving healthcare access and supporting communities across the country.
We shared the statement below with the pharmacy press.
Janet Morrison, Chief Executive of Community Pharmacy England, said:
“On World Pharmacists Day, we thank all community pharmacy teams across England for their dedication, expertise, and the vital role they play in keeping our communities healthy. This year’s theme, ‘Think Health, Think Pharmacist,’ is also close to our hearts, as it reflects what community pharmacy delivers for patients and communities through the Pharmacy First service. Pharmacy owners and their teams work incredibly hard every day to deliver this service up and down the country. With the expansion of this and other services, it’s clear that people rely on pharmacies more than ever before.
Our top three wishes are for community pharmacy to be put on sustainable financial foundations for the future, to sit at the heart of a modernised primary healthcare service; and for community pharmacy teams to be able to make full use of their professional skills through a wider range of clinical services to better serve the public.
We thank our pharmacy colleagues again today and remain committed to making the case for change and pushing for a better future for community pharmacy.”
